Another martial-arts themed Super Sentai for the third time unleashed in 2007,twenty years after Hikari Sentai Maskman and fourteen years after Gosei Sentai Dairanger.Jyuuken Sentai Gekiranger (2007-08) looks like a tribute for 20th anniversary of Hikari Sentai Maskman (1987-88),also similar to Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger (2004-2005)and Choudenshi Bioman (1984-85) with 20 years gap.
The story of Gekiranger is a mix of Maskman,Liveman and Dairanger story.
Similarities between Gekiranger and Maskman is aura power ,martial arts techniques and the second mecha which is a big-fist type Galaxy Robo and Geki Fire,and the last Chief Sugata and Master Shafu have similarities being an expert aura master and martial artists.
Gekiranger and Liveman similarities are rivalries between 2 groups.Jyuuken beast-arts split-up when 3 member rebelled and create their own way of Jyuuken ,which is inherited till the current students ,while Liveman is rivalry between classmates,when their classmates betrayed,kill and sell themselves to evil turned into main villains.
Dairanger similarities is also the same,Master Kaku also same to Chief Sugata and Master Shafu being an martial artist expert and aura master,more on Chinese themed is only same to Gekiranger.The monsters of Dairanger and Gekiranger were the same because of some techniques shown in every monsters of the week.
The Gekijyuken training is very practical,with only a simple household chores or any recreational activities which is connected to strength,heart and technique.The method of training was easy even it's too confusing for a daily activity like this.
The mecha is really unique,they have the first arsenal who turns into a full armor unlike others only capable both arms and legs.They haven't any combining between first and second mecha,only arsenal would combine this.
This is the first series that features a violet ranger which includes as a second line-up alongside black and green.This is the 5th trio team since Sun Vulcan and 2nd team which is focus only 3 since Abaranger.This sentai series is the first series without belt except Gekichopper,looks weird.
This series is the best in the decade 2000's featuring different twists between rivalries in the story also some upgrades happen.Majority in our country will called it Power Ranger,but if original was aired it is cool and better than Maskman.Why I could say that?because of some improvements on the revision of the story of Maskman.
