From my first blogposts up until now ,were more on Kamen Rider and Super Sentai.I'm not posted too much any topics about Ultraman,it's just because it's often to aired in every decade, just like 2 series from 1960's;4 series from the 1970's;1 series from 1980's;3 series from 1990's and 5 series from 2000's that I cannot get to muc updated about these .The Super Sentai are the longest running franchise since 1975 until now, and the Kamen Rider franchise have a long franchise when the heisei era started in the year 2000 from Kamen Rider Kuuga to Kamen Rider OOO up to the future series will be aired.
This Tokusatsu series is the mother of all franchise history that followed by different genres such as Kamen Rider in 1971,Super Sentai in 1975 and Metal Heroes in 1982.
The Ultraman franchise started as a horror series in 1966, entitled Ultra Q tells about the special headquartes exterminating different aliens who want to conquer earth and the different weird scenarios related to aliens in every episode.This series is just look like twilight zone in Japan dealing with some weird and horrible aliens.This is the first series without a super hero than can beat aliens only by themselves.
The debut of Ultraman on April 1966 remarks the first start and foundation of all Tokusatsu franchise, followed by some different versions with the same theme in every year.This series is being successful that followed by Ultraseven in 1967 and some successors on the following decades.It make an influence to continue the legacy from the first series until the current series aired ,with one name but different faces,personality and goals in protecting the earth that attempt by some invaders.
The Ultraman franchise makes early 1970's rock from Ultraman Jack (1971) to Ultraman Leo (1974) with different powers,techniques and moves more improved than the previous one.This 4 franchise features different headquarters just like in Science patrol,where they investigate aliens who want attempt to conquer earth.The greatest part of the franchise when they feature previous Ultra warriors helped them to fight with some complicated monsters, and giving some advice to the current Ultrawarriors according to their experience.Just like Ultraman Zoffy who is the commander in charge from the following Ultraman who assigned to protect earth in every series,he always give some guidance for their own sake.The only disadvantage from the appearance of the previous ones was too tiring,if you always see them in every new series it doesn't feel any hard adjustments and refresh your mind in a fresh concept.
After the finale of Ultraman Leo in 1975,they are following versions related to Ultraman ,also they created an Anime series in 1979 called Ultraman Jonias.In 1980 they created another series called Ultraman 80.It looks too sexy in his appearance,but it symbolizes futuristic type of hero,when the news predicted that 1980 will be the end of the world ,and expecting some different changes if you watch Doraemon about the expectation of the year 2000's would be a techie city.Four years later after Ultraman 80 ended.Another movie is release in 1984 tells the story about Ultraman Zoffy with different Ultrawarriors.In 1989 Ultraman is remake in US version just after Power Rangers followed 4 years later.The story also looks similar when I watched it during my childhood days.
During the early 1990's the Ultraman movies aired, until the year 1996 remarks the 30th birthday of the franchise to create 3 following series.Ultraman Tiga is first debuted as a new era of Ultraman series followed by the sequel Ultraman Dyna and the different story of Ultraman Gaia that feature second Ultraman that opposites to him, but with the same mission.The daughter of the first Ultraman,are one of the casts in Ultraman Tiga as his leading lady.I'm really glad that Kousei Kougami of Kamen Rider OOO is the main commander in Ultraman Gaia,he's really an epic before.
In the start of new millenium,another series having the longest episodes of 65 and one of the most successful series, that is Ultraman Cosmos that remarks the franchise 35th anniversary.Yusuke/Red Falcon of Chonjyuu Sentai Liveman is the main commander in this series while he's the one who comeback in a crossover in Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai.After 3 years they aired the darker version of series which is Ultraman Nexus in 2004 which is only 38 episodes, but it gives a lesson about challenges in life facing some deep problems about losing everything.The followins year was like back to basics theme which is Ultraman Max in 2005.It's better than the previous one,they revive some previous enemies from the Ultraman series before,the main commander is the original Ultraman himself together with his leading lady in the series.In the year 2006 another series that revives the 1970's style when previous heroes from the 60's to 80's get together to battle against different monsters before and that is Ultraman Mebius.It is one of the successful series that remarks 40th anniversary and gathers all previous heroes.The following year in 2007 revive another series with an adult theme called Ultraseven X commemorating the 40th anniversary of Ultraseven.
From 2008 onwards they are following movies until now,but not yet confirmed if they are aired another series for this upcoming 45th anniversary and aired alongside with Kaizoku Sentai Goukaiger and the following Kamen Rider anniversary series.
